Our Hydroponic Farm
Baywater Farms is committed to high-quality hydroponic produce grown with care on our sixth-generation family farm. While the hydroponic growing we practice is a modern method, we still harvest and care for all of our plants by hand. In our ½ acre greenhouse, we grow 24 acres’ worth of delicious, fresh Maryland produce using no pesticides and sustainable methods. Since our greenhouse is climate-controlled and carefully tended to, our hydroponically-grown lettuces, herbs, and microgreens are available throughout the year. Baywater Farms’ famous spring mix blend of five delectable lettuces is just as fresh and crisp in February as it is in June. Even better, all of our hydroponics are constantly being grown and harvested, so they can go from our farm to your table in hours, not weeks.
Hydroponic farming is growing in popularity every year because it offers a multitude of advantages to wholesale produce distributors, restaurant produce suppliers, and end consumers alike. Hydroponic growing methods:
- Drastically reduce the amount of prep time and washing time needed
- Eliminate the need for pesticides and herbicides thanks to the controlled environment
- Increase the lifespan of harvested drops thanks to the intact tap roots
- Enable a year-round harvest
- Produce consistent and perfect plants
- Use 10-15% of the water traditional farming methods do for an ecologically-friendly use of resources
